Psychiatrist / Partner

Dr Joshua Nead, DO, bright smile, clean shaven, blue and gray blazer, Psychiatrist and Partner at The Grove Psychiatry

Dr. Joshua Nead, DO, is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist through the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He chose to attend AT Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona due to its focus on whole-body health, emphasizing the connection between body, mind, and spirit. After completing medical school, Dr. Nead underwent intensive training during a rigorous General Psychiatry Residency at Creighton University School of Medicine and Valleywise Health Medical Center. He further specialized as one of only six Fellows in Arizona to be accepted into the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the same institutions.

To complement his psychiatric training, Dr. Nead completed the Integrative Psychiatry Institute Fellowship, enabling him to incorporate evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine treatments, as well as nutritional psychiatry, into his practice. His mission is to create a therapeutic space where patients feel supported on their journey toward optimal mental health.

Dr. Nead’s unique perspective, strong work ethic, and creativity stem from his diverse life experiences. Growing up, he had the opportunity to study dance at his mother’s studio, where he developed an appreciation for artistic expression and cultural diversity. His dance training took him across the globe, including a performance for King Tāufaʻahau Tupou IV of Tonga. Dr. Nead also served a mission in British Columbia, Canada, further enriching his worldview.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Nead has a deep personal connection to foster care and adoption, having fostered and adopted children himself. This, combined with his experience creating wellness programs for children, has provided him with a profound understanding of how factors such as ethnic background, cultural diversity, and socioeconomic status influence mental health.
