The movement emphasizes the importance of personal empowerment, hope, and the potential for individuals with mental health challenges to lead fulfilling lives. This movement seeks to reduce stigma, enhance community support, and foster collaborative relationships between individuals and mental health professionals. The recovery movement aims to transform mental health services and promote greater acceptance and understanding by focusing on the strengths, resilience, and personal goals of those with mental health challenges. Dr. Skinner believes that mental health recovery is not just about managing symptoms but about fostering hope and harnessing personal strengths. She has worked extensively with diverse populations, advocating for an holistic approach that combines evidence-based practices with a deep respect for each person's unique journey.

Dr. Skinner works with both children and adults, treating a variety of mental health challenges, but specializes in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. She is trained in the following evidence-based treatments: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

When Dr. Skinner is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 dogs, Wyatt, Abby, and Bella. Dr. Skinner grew up in Alaska and developed a love for the outdoors. She enjoys being active, and you can often find her hiking, camping, and traveling with her friends.
